It is my Pleasure to Welcome you to CDDF-AFRICA. Here, you begin an experience to be part of a groundbreaking effort to [Shape the Fortunes of the Future for Africa] * JOIN THE EFFORT * << Prof. Kwabena M. Bosompem, President & CEO >>
Firstly, let me welcome you to the official website of Community Directed Development Foundation (CDDF), we are proud to have you as a visitor. Just, take a little while to browse this website and you will discover amazing promise in a social innovation that is beginning to change the African continent, to focus the role of education in development, humble the myriad of endemic diseases, improve the environment and alleviate poverty in the most convincing way.
The magnitude of the problem of poverty and untold suffering on the African continent is extensively reported on daily basis in global media, and there is the global view about the need for us all to pull efforts behind the world’s innovative approaches that offer significant promise to contribute to poverty reduction in Africa. Notwithstanding, it is also well understood that the problems to be addressed are interlocking. “They are vicious circles which reinforce one another. They must, therefore, be tackled together. To do that Africa requires a comprehensive ‘big push’ on many fronts at once. Partners must work together to implement this package with commitment, perseverance and speed, each focusing on how they can make the most effective contribution.” It was partly for this reason that, I persevered to get the Foundation started in 2005 with the objective to help secure the future of Africa in line with the global desire to reverse the trend of poverty and suffering from the world’s poorest continent.
Today, through CDDF, we all have this unique opportunity to work together to strengthen education, improve health, environment, agriculture, industry and social programmes in Africa in a strategy, which is also coupled with internal resource mobilization to ensure the most sustainable approach.
Our Community Directed Development (CDD) approach seeks to promote innovative partnership for development in Africa. The strategy is to build bridges between experts and organizations that do not traditionally work well together and create the orderly, structured environment needed to encourage local people to take ownership of intervention programmes as a means of stimulating sustainable socio-economic development. The intervention begins from a start-up socio-geographical unit area from which the capability built is systematically replicated elsewhere to cover an entire country. Capability building in the local area through networking is comprehensive, involving Policy makers, Community leaders, Government agencies, Religious organizations, Educational institutions, Health institutions, Social/ Occupational groups (e.g., market women, farmers and fishermen), Tourism organizations, Recreational groups, Pressure groups, Communities, Non governmental organizations and the Mass media.
The ability to recover lost opportunities for African societies is further strengthened through CDD research support by academia consisting of a network of students, lecturers and research staff in universities, polytechnics and training colleges working in collaboration with community representatives.
CDDF encourages initiative and innovation whilst striving to bring good health, prosperity and development to Africa and your support for this cause is much needed.
It is my pleasure to welcome you to join this special experience and be listed as one of the makers of development whose vision and effort made a difference in Africa, the last frontier of poverty and human suffering to be conquered in the quest of humanity to prove that we on EARTH are an intelligent race. I urge you to take a bold step to give some of your time, material resource and money so we can advance our vision together and ensure the sustainability of our support for the poor communities in Africa.
Thank you,
Prof. Kwabena M. Bosompem President & Founder.
