DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS PROJECT & DEVELOPMENT

GHANA

In Ghana, there are 10 administrative regions and 138 districts (Figure 1 insert Ghana Map) and decentralization is up to the community level.  However, the activities of this project will be implemented at sub-district level which is regarded as the fundamental socio-geographical unit area.  The project is started from Ada-Foah which is one of the five sub-districts of the Dangme East District (Figure 2 insert Dangme East District Map).

The CDD model through PCA is being adapted to Ada-Foah, and then replicated in the other four sub-districts (Big Ada, Kasseh, Sege, and Anyamam) as well as in other districts in the country where local government and other stakeholders are ready to invest in disease control and related development during the period of the first five (5) years.

This will include Agona District in the Central Region, XXX in the Ashanti Region and XXX, Upper West District, which was selected by personnel from the Ministries of Education (MOE) and Health (MOH) as a Ghana country start-up area for the CDA/PCA intervention strategy in the country.  Potential start-up areas have been identified in other selected African countries in consultation with government agencies (MOE and MOH) and other stakeholders.
